Robinhood is a US broker headquartered in Menlo Park, California, known for popularising commission-free trading in stocks, ETFs, options and crypto. In the US, it has no account minimum and one of the easiest apps on the market.

But what if you live outside the US? This article explains where Robinhood is available in 2026, what it offers in each region and which alternatives international investors can use.

Is Robinhood available outside the US?

Yes, but only in a few regions, and the products are very different from country to country. In July 2026, Robinhood said it served nearly 28 million customers across 38 countries. This is where it operates:

Region What you can trade
United States Real stocks, ETFs, options, futures and crypto
United Kingdom Real US stocks, ETFs and options (no crypto)
European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway Crypto, Classic Stock Tokens (derivatives that track US stocks and ETFs) and perpetual futures, but no real stocks or ETFs
Canada (since June 2026) Crypto only (around 50 assets)

Checked in September 2026.

In the United Kingdom, Robinhood has been available to all customers since 2024, through Robinhood U.K. Ltd, authorised by the FCA.

In Europe, Robinhood operates through Robinhood Europe UAB, a Lithuanian company, in these 30 countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden. European users can trade more than 2,000 Classic Stock Tokens that track US stocks and ETFs, but these are derivative contracts, not real shares. In Canada, Robinhood launched on 1 June 2026 after acquiring WonderFi, the owner of the Bitbuy and Coinsquare crypto platforms. For now, it only offers crypto, with no stocks or options.

Is Robinhood coming to Singapore and Asia?

Robinhood has chosen Singapore as its Asia-Pacific headquarters. In April 2026, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) granted Robinhood Singapore in-principle approval for a capital markets services licence, which it needs to offer stocks and other securities. Bitstamp, the crypto exchange Robinhood bought in 2025, already holds a licence in Singapore for crypto services. A launch date for retail investors in Singapore had not been announced when we last checked, and Robinhood has not announced plans for other Asian countries.

Can you use a VPN to open a Robinhood account from other countries?

No. A VPN only changes your IP address. To open an account, Robinhood asks for a valid ID and proof of residence in a supported country, so you can’t open an account from an unsupported country, even with a VPN.

Robinhood alternatives for international investors

If Robinhood is not available where you live, or you want to own real stocks and ETFs, these platforms are available in many countries:

  • Interactive Brokers: founded in 1978 and available in almost every country, IBKR offers low commissions, access to markets worldwide, thousands of funds and excellent research, with no account minimum. Its IBKR GlobalTrader app is designed for beginners.
  • eToro: available in many countries and known for social investing, where you can automatically copy the trades of other investors, with no commission on ETFs. Stock fees depend on your country. eToro is a multi-asset investment platform. The value of your investments may go up or down. Your capital is at risk. CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. 51% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.
  • Trading 212*: a very user-friendly app with commission-free investing in real stocks and ETFs (other fees may apply, see terms and fees), available in the UK and most of Europe. New users can get a free fractional share with our promo code “FINTECH”.

*Capital at Risk. Sponsored Link. To get free fractional shares worth up to 100 EUR/GBP, you can open an account with Trading 212 through this link. Most users (80%) receive a share worth between €8 and €25. Terms apply.

Conclusion

Robinhood is available outside the US, but only in the UK, the EU (plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and, for crypto only, Canada, with Singapore next in line. The product is different in each region, and only the US and UK offer real stocks. If you live elsewhere, or want to own real stocks and ETFs outside those markets, Interactive Brokers, eToro and Trading 212 are good alternatives.
